Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi is confident Ghana will book a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations despite being drawn against Ivory Coast and other tough opponents.

The Black Stars have already shifted their attention to the AFCON qualifiers after reaching the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with qualification now the team’s immediate objective.

Speaking ahead of the campaign, Ati-Zigi stressed that Ghana will respect every opponent but remain focused on taking each game as it comes.

“We have respect for Ivory Coast and the other teams in our AFCON qualifying group but we’ll take it game by game,” he said.

The St. Gallen goalkeeper believes the Black Stars have enough quality and experience to navigate the qualifiers successfully if they remain focused throughout the campaign.

Ati-Zigi has been a regular member of the national team since 2018 and has amassed more than 30 appearances for Ghana. He also featured twice at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars reached the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.

With preparations expected to begin in the coming months, the experienced goalkeeper will once again be aiming to play a leading role as Ghana targets a return to the continental tournament.
